“BEIRUT — The annual meeting in Washington of the leading pro-Israel lobby in the United States, the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC), is always an important spectacle that provides insights into three critical spheres: the mindset of Israeli leaders, the pro-Israel pandering of almost the entire American political system (especially in an election year), and the mindset of the American president. This week’s meetings have been no exception, with the most interesting aspect of the process being the slightly nuanced views of U.S. President Barack Obama amidst the otherwise hysterical flood of anti-Iran sentiments.”
